🌡 The weather here, in general
Denver gets a real winter. January nights average 15°F, and July highs reach about 88°F — a 73-degree swing across the year. Cold that deep is its own hazard: exposed skin, car batteries and water pipes all have opinions about it.
The thermometer rarely spikes — only about 36 days a year top 90°F — but it hardly needs to. Summer sits in the mid-eighties for months at a stretch, and with humidity on top of it the heat index runs well above what the air temperature suggests.
Snow is a real feature of the year: roughly 43 inches falls in an average year, mostly across January, February, March, April, November and December. With 156 nights a year at or below freezing, ice on the roads is a longer season than snow on the ground.
Rainfall averages about 17 inches a year, wettest in May and driest in December.
