Privacy Policy

Introduction

Weather Zombie ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our website at weatherzombie.io and our mobile applications (collectively, the "Service").

Information We Collect

Location Data

Our mobile app requests access to your device's GPS location to provide weather forecasts for your current area. This location data is:

• Used only to fetch weather data for your location
• Not stored on our servers
• Not shared with third parties (except weather data providers)
• Stored locally on your device for convenience (recent locations)

Automatically Collected Information

When you use our Service, we may automatically collect certain technical information including:

• Device type and operating system
• IP address (for general location and weather data)
• Browser type and version
• Pages viewed and features used

Storm Reports You Send Us

If you send a storm report, we store the photo, what you tell us about it (what it shows, the nearest town, when you took it, and any description), the name you want it credited to, and your email address. Before the photo is stored we re-encode it, which removes the location, camera and other details embedded in the original file. If you share your device's location, it is rounded to within about 5 km before it is stored.

• Nothing is published until a person has reviewed it
• If approved, the photo, its description, the town, the time and your credit name are shown publicly
• Your email address is never shown or shared, and is used only to contact you about the photo
• You can ask for a photo to be taken down at any time by emailing the address below

Zombie Photos You Send Us

If you send a photo to Zombie of the Day, we store the photo, its caption, the name you want it credited to, and your email address. The photo is re-encoded before it is stored, which removes the location, camera and other details embedded in the original file. It is then checked automatically by an image moderation service (Amazon Rekognition).

• Photos that pass the automatic check are published straight away, with the caption and credit name; anything flagged waits for a person
• Your email address is never shown or shared, and is used only to contact you about the photo
• Anyone can report a photo, which hides it until it has been reviewed
• You can ask for a photo to be taken down at any time by emailing the address below

• Improve and maintain our Service
