Annular Solar Eclipse February 6, 2027
The sky does the maths centuries ahead. The clouds decide on the day.
Annular solar eclipse, Saturday 6 February 2027. Chile and Argentina; partial across South America, west Africa and Antarctica.
From Columbus, OH
Not visible from here. The Moon's shadow does not reach Columbus, OH during this eclipse — the Sun is not partly covered at any point. No amount of clear sky changes that.
Most places see nothing during most eclipses. That is normal: the shadow track is narrow, and even the partial zone covers only part of one hemisphere.
Somewhere else?
Positive latitude is north, positive longitude is east. Everything above is computed from these coordinates — contact times, obscuration and Sun altitude are all worked out for that exact point, not looked up from a city list.
⚠ Looking at this safely
Staring at even a heavily eclipsed Sun will burn your retina, and it does not hurt while it happens — there are no pain receptors back there, so you find out hours later. Sunglasses are not enough, and neither is a phone camera, exposed film, a smoked glass or a CD. Use eclipse glasses marked ISO 12312-2, or a welding filter of shade 14 or darker. Never look through binoculars, a camera or a telescope without a filter fitted in front of the lens — optics concentrate the light and will do the damage far faster than the naked eye. The only exception anywhere is the brief window of totality, and only if you are inside the path; if any part of the Sun's disc is showing, the filter goes back on.

Eclipse dates and the global circumstances are fixed and well known. Everything local on this page — your times, your percentage, the Sun's altitude — is computed from the Moon's and Sun's positions for your coordinates, including the parallax shift from standing on the surface rather than at the centre of the Earth. Figures agree with the published NASA values to within a few seconds and a few tenths of a percent.
